This blog will be offering helpful tips and information for setting up backyard habitats on your own property. With the deforestation, housing and construction that is increasing daily throughout our beautiful lands, the creation of backyard habitats across America and other parts of the world will provide the wildlife in your area a much needed environment in which to thrive and produce future generations for our enjoyment.
It can be as simple as providing the proper food, water and shelter for the selected wildlife species you want to attract to your property. Adding bird feeders, bird houses, squirrel feeders, bat houses and butterfly houses can increase your chances of having these small creatures establishing a new habitat in your area.
Also provide them with the proper plant life for cover and raising their young. You can provide these elements for the existing wildlife on your property, wildlife you wish to attract or do both. You can have your backyard habitats certified as a wildlife habitat with the National Wildlife Federation by completing their program. You will receive a certificate upon completion and be qualified to purchase an option of really nice yard signs for your achievement.
This is a great way to get young people in your life educated and involved in preserving natural wildlife habitats for the species of wildlife in your area. I work with my grand children to teach them the importance of various wild birds, brown bats, butterflies and beneficial insects found in our neck of the woods. By instilling in them our role in protecting these little creatures and providing them with the elements needed in their habitats, they have developed an appreciation towards our wildlife and love to participate in activities involving preservation of these precious resources.
